We undertake to handle any personal information under our control with utmost care and to keep that information safe whilst protecting your privacy and rights.

Ailsa Cottage is a privately owned cottage, offering self-catering holiday lets.

This policy is effective from 14th March 2022.

In terms of this privacy policy, ‘Ailsa Cottage’, ‘we’ or ‘our’ refers to the owners, Drs Andrew and Charlotte Cureton.

We collect and store information about you in the ways listed below:

Information you provide to us directly

We only collect information where we ask for this directly from you. You may contact us to make an enquiry or to book a self-catering holiday in a number or different ways, by phone, by emails or online via our website.. When using our website, we do not collect personal information using cookies or other methods of tracking and we do not use third parties to collect information for us either.

Information from other source

Your privacy settings on social media platforms such as Facebook or Twitter may be set up so that you give us permission to access certain information from those platforms, for example tagging us in a post or photo.

Information available publicly

We may also collect public sources such as public social media accounts, company websites and Companies House. This helps us to put together a more complete picture of someone’s interest in Ailsa Cottage.

We collect, store and use the information detailed below:

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • Your address and contact details (mobile number and/or landline)
  • Details of your booking (including the number of guests in your party)
  • Your bank or payment details where you have provided these to make a payment
  • Any queries, requests or complaints you have submitted to us
  • Any other personal information you have provided to us

  • Take bookings for your stay as a guest in Ailsa Cottage
  • Manage your booking for Ailsa Cottage
  • Keep a record of your relationship with us
  • Contact you regarding your booking
  • Respond to any complaints or queries you contact us about
  • Send correspondence to you
  • Practice due diligence
  • Conduct quality control of our systems
  • Audit and administration of our accounts
  • To meet legal obligations, such as fulfilling a contract with you, or our obligations to regulators, government and/or bodies of law enforcement
  • Establish, enforce or defend legal claims

We ensure that appropriate technical and organisational safeguards are in place to protect your personal data. This includes using a secure network.

We will never sell or share your information onto third parties for their marketing efforts. As a caveat, we may disclose your personal data to third parties in some specific instances, such as to an IT service provider where IT support is required.

We only want to hold the most up to date personal information and to give you full control of the data we hold for you. We have specific guidelines in place to determine how long we keep hold of your personal data. These are determined by legal and operational considerations. As an example, we are required to keep some of your information for tax purposes.
